APR
APR, an advertising agency that coordinates estimates between clients and agencies, entered project data almost entirely by hand after each project closed. Ollon built an ingestion pipeline that extracts data from incoming PDFs with AI, plus a chat agent that pulls answers from project history mid negotiation. Advisors now negotiate with instant access to deal data instead of manual lookups.

Dessa
Dessa, an AI startup, wanted an easy to use machine learning tool to expedite the work of data scientists at large banks. Ollon augmented Dessa's team, leading the UX and visual design work and building the web application. The product launched months ahead of schedule, and Ollon stayed on through Dessa's growth up to its acquisition by Square in 2020.

Humber River Hospital
Humber River Hospital in Toronto set out to expand a COVID tracking app to support patients with cancer, diabetes, and other conditions. Ollon built a "Circle of Care" messaging platform with peer support groups, instant care plan access, and a virtual queue system. The virtual queue reduced wait times, letting patients step away, while care teams get quick access to patient records.

Telna
Telna, a global cellular connectivity platform, let go of its CTO amid ongoing engineering problems, leaving the team without clear process or visibility. Ollon stepped in as fractional CTO, restructured the team, stood up a separate L3 and DevOps group, and led due diligence on an acquisition. Telna's engineering now runs with clear structure, and Ollon supports the new CTO on ISO 27001 certification.

Xello, which builds software to prepare students for college and careers, needed a new product launched by September but lacked the internal capacity to build it. Ollon built the product from scratch, backend and frontend, and delivered it on schedule. Impressed with the results, Xello has since expanded the partnership to six completed projects over three years.

A bank owned investor group serving physicians needed a user interface built for investors and advisors on its new investment platform. Ollon built that interface, coordinating directly across the marketing agency, the investment advisors, and the bank's own technology team. Ollon delivered the platform as an embedded member of that team through to completion.

McCray Optical
McCray Optical, a lens and eyewear manufacturer, ran a three week mail based process for clip on lenses, leaving customers without glasses the whole time. Ollon built a React Native app using augmented reality to measure frames in store, letting staff walk customers through customization on the spot. Customers now complete measurement to order in a single store visit, keeping their glasses throughout.

Sago Mini, a Spin Master subsidiary, saw online demand for its toys spike during COVID lockdowns, putting pressure on its small internal development team. Ollon supplied multiple full stack developers who worked alongside Sago Mini's team to accelerate feature development and meet tight timelines. Sago Mini scaled the team down once demand normalized, and still calls on Ollon for on demand support today.

Ballot Ready
Ballot Ready set out to create a more informed electorate for the U.S. election. Ollon helped build a platform where residents entered their address to see personalized candidate information for every race on their ballot. The system helped 750,000 U.S. voters access the information they needed to vote confidently across 20,000+ candidates.

Green and Spiegel
Green and Spiegel, an immigration law firm, ran client intake on paper, a barrier for clients without computer access and a source of delays and errors. Ollon built a mobile friendly intake platform with dynamic questionnaires and 2FA security, integrated with the firm's MatterSphere legal database. The Canadian branch now runs on the new platform, and the US branch is considering adopting it too.

Nationwide Group
The Nationwide Group's new CTO inherited four live mobile apps built on Cordova with no repository access or documentation, after a wave of departures. Ollon's developers reverse engineered the code, got two of the four apps running again within three months, and began building a replacement platform. The Nationwide Group now has working apps and a modernization path already underway.

TO Live
TO Live, operating Toronto's arts and cultural venues, had a website that didn't work properly on mobile devices. Ollon rebuilt the mobile friendly website and implemented WiFi systems at venue locations. Residents now access event information on any device, connect to WiFi during performances, and receive personalized content both virtually and onsite while attending live events.

Tread
Tread, a construction materials and invoicing platform, lost its CTO and development staff right after its first VC round, leaving a gap in its ability to ship on time. Ollon joined Tread's team to fill that gap, building invoicing and analytics features alongside the existing developers. Ollon stayed on as a core part of the team for 1.5 years as Tread grew into a successful startup.

Vesta
Vesta set out to help end gender based violence by lowering barriers to reporting for crisis centers and agencies working with survivors of abuse. Ollon designed and built the web platform, passing security and privacy audits required by the Ontario Provincial Police and Queen's University. The platform now centralizes resources from crisis centers, police, and social workers, improving offender tracking.

Weever
Weever, which helps manufacturers replace paper based maintenance with digital workflows, was running Rails, Node, JDK, and PostgreSQL versions behind with no security updates. Ollon embedded developers into Weever's team, migrating Rails from version 5 to 7 and evaluating more than 50 gems against the upgrade. Weever's application now runs on current, supported versions with no functionality lost.

Ballmatics
BallMatics, a basketball and math program for kids ages 4-18, needed to bring its lessons home during COVID under a government grant. Ollon built a machine learning model that detects made baskets through a phone camera and feeds that into interactive lessons and tests in a mobile app. BallMatics now has a functional prototype in testing, giving kids a way to keep practicing basketball and math from home.

ChitChats, a Canadian shipping platform and Amazon alternative for small businesses, needed to keep up with surging demand during the pandemic despite internal developer turnover. Ollon integrated ChitChats directly with the online store platforms driving most of its customer base. Store owners get shipping rates and tracking working within days of connecting their store.

Daybreak AI, a growth stage AI company selling to enterprise customers, had no dedicated IT and security leader, and compliance work was overloading engineering. Ollon embedded a fractional IT and security lead running SOC 2 and GDPR compliance across teams in North America and India. Daybreak now passes enterprise security reviews cleanly, with SOC 2 audits closing with zero exceptions.

District Maps, serving landscape architects and urban planners, faced slow performance limiting project scale. Ollon restructured the system to handle large geographic datasets. Planners now collaborate in real time on complex projects, navigate maps seamlessly, and visualize development proposals without performance delays that previously hindered their work.

Flow Ventures, a SaaS company automating SRED evidence gathering for startups, pivoted to a service model and let its dev team go, but still needed the platform maintained. Ollon stepped in as a fractional resource, then migrated the app off Google Cloud to AWS to meet Deloitte's standards after acquisition. The application still runs as part of Deloitte's ecosystem, with Ollon continuing to support it.

An ice manufacturer serving 75,000 customers who order about 2 billion bags a year needed an e-commerce app to cut call center demand from franchisees placing orders by phone. Ollon built a React Native app for order placement, delivery tracking, and order history, integrated directly with Microsoft Dynamics. The company saw fewer service calls and requested three rounds of feature additions after launch.

Massively, an early chatbot company, was down to two mid level developers after its engineering team moved on, with no one left to modernize its stack. Ollon served as fractional CTO for five years, moving the platform off AWS OpsWorks to Docker and integrating new LLMs into the chatbot pipeline. Massively kept shipping through multiple rounds of turnover, staying current as AI shifted.

A national sports governing body oversees major championships and the rules of the sport, and needed a virtual training program to reach a broader, younger demographic. Ollon built a "site within a site" Learning Management System integrated with Microsoft Dynamics for marketing analytics. The organization now offers virtual courses across several seasons, tracking user progress to fine tune targeting.

Quiet Coach
Quiet Coach, a Toronto startup building a coaching app for amateur sports leagues, lost its development team mid build with no one left to set direction. Ollon took on the role of fractional CTO, secured SRED funding, and rebuilt the app around real time coach to player communication over Bluetooth. The finished app is fully integrated with its hardware and now in beta testing with real coaches and players.

Sinalite
Sinalite, a printing house running two warehouses on a hybrid AWS and onsite setup, struggled with technical debt and weak leadership, leading to serious breaches including a ransomware attack. Ollon led a system assessment, provided technical leadership, and automated the AWS infrastructure with Terraform. Sinalite's infrastructure is now fully represented in code, with stronger security in place.

State University
A large state university operated seven critical web apps for student services, built on unsupported Python 2.7 and Pylons, creating security risks after COVID-19 policies left only one internal developer. Ollon upgraded the applications to Python 3.6 using the Pyramid framework. The university now runs on a supported, secure stack and continues to request new upgrades from the team.

Zestey Plan
Zesty Plan needed its AI powered recipe app finished for a live demo at the Collision Conference, with a month to go and no in house developers. Ollon placed two developers on the team to extend features, test, and polish the app before the presentation. Zesty Plan's demo grew its following and led to a second showcase at Collision 2024.

AprilAge wanted a tool showing people how lifestyle factors like smoking would age their face, with no existing engine to build from. Ollon served as chief architect, building a predictive facial aging engine deployed across kiosks, mobile, and web in more than 30 science centers. AprilAge is now used in over 40 countries, with studies showing it increases smoking cessation tenfold over the control group.

Canadian Vein Clinic
Canadian Vein Clinic, running 17 locations across three provinces, needed to streamline aging EMR, appointment booking, and email systems. Ollon built a custom web application, migrating ten years of patient data and adding automated diagrams, secure digital forms, and integrated fax. Staff now spend less time searching for data and confirming appointments, and can access the system from anywhere.

Feast
Feast, a Toronto meal delivery startup, wanted to get fresh, locally sourced meals to customers quickly but had no ordering or delivery platform built yet. Ollon built an end to end system covering mobile and web ordering plus automated inventory and delivery management. Feast launched in six months and was delivering an average of 300 meals per lunch hour, most within 15 minutes of ordering.

Open Care
OpenCare needed patients to book dental appointments directly into practice management systems that were never built to connect to a web platform. Ollon built a C# integration that connects OpenCare's API to five different dental platforms, including Dentrix and EagleSoft, through a secure local tunnel. OpenCare grew from 7 to more than 300 signed up dental offices during the engagement.

PaperDragon, a cloud infrastructure startup building a marketplace for computing power, needed an application for users to provision virtual machines across providers. Ollon built the full user portal, front and back end, with an architecture flexible for each provider's needs. Customers can now provision infrastructure from whichever provider fits their region without touching that provider's systems.

A reinsurance company using Microsoft Dynamics needed to modernize regulatory filing after their IBM contract ended and the development team left. Ollon reverse engineered the Dynamics environment and built automated workflows, security roles, and audit logging. The company now runs an automated filing platform with detailed audit logs, reducing manual effort and compliance risk.

Sponge, a renewable energy company, was building a home device to monitor solar output and usage but had no web development resources for the platform. Ollon built a React based web app with an Influx database backend, adapting the interface for both Raspberry Pi units and desktops. Sponge now has a production ready interface giving users clear visibility into their solar energy generation and usage.

Community Bank
A bank's customer facing application, running on outdated frameworks for 15 years with no original developer left, raised security concerns. Ollon ran a security focused code inspection, prioritized the vulnerabilities found, and identified fixes to keep it running safely. The bank decided to replace the application, running it safely for a year and a half while building that replacement.

Deep 360
Deep 360, an early producer of 360 degree video, wanted to bring immersive VR video to traditional media companies but had no iOS app to play it on. Ollon built the first iOS application for Liquid's 360 degree video platform, letting users play VR video directly on iPhones. Deep 360 used that app to land Art 360 as its first major client, giving it the track record to grow its customer base.

Enerquality, a leading certifier of energy efficient housing in Canada, had a disconnected, manual process for enrolling builders and managing billing, creating inefficiencies and errors. Ollon built a web application integrating enrollment records with the accounting system for automated tracking and reporting. Enerquality reduced billing errors to nearly zero and streamlined internal processes.

EpiTOme Genetics needed its offshore development team held to PIPEDA compliance while building a diagnostic tracking app for pharmacies and patients. Ollon served as fractional CTO, overseeing the offshore team's workflow, budget, and quality, and writing the policies needed to meet healthcare security requirements. EpiTOme launched its application nationally with documented compliance practices in place.

A company running an inventory platform for healthcare facilities saw unpredictable API response spikes driving up costs and complaints. Ollon monitored logs and metrics daily through Azure Application Insights, tracing performance issues to their source. Response times have improved, spikes are less frequent, and the platform now runs on fewer server nodes than before.

A marketing analytics platform scaling with new VC funding lost its CTO and senior developer in the same stretch, risking its technical continuity. Ollon deployed an interim developer to bridge the gap, then hired and onboarded a new CTO and developer, transferring key knowledge. The company kept its platform running and now processes over a million rows of customer data daily.

NAPRTCS, a healthcare registry for children with kidney disease, had decades of patient data locked in SAS files incompatible with its new Snowflake environment. Ollon built a custom ETL pipeline that restructured the legacy dataset into SQL friendly tables and loaded it into Snowflake. NAPRTCS can now query its registry data directly in Snowflake, with documentation to extend the pipeline on its own.

Orium, a leading composable commerce consultancy, wanted to build an AI powered storefront builder that automated copywriting, design, and A/B testing for retail brands. Ollon led development of the platform, called Path, from UX design and prototyping to production release. Path is now being piloted by two large retailers, adjusting layouts automatically to optimize each brand's experience.

PCK Intellectual Property, a law firm, wanted to automate its intellectual property practice and license the solution to other firms. Ollon built a web platform with OCR integration and a secure Windows agent connecting to PCK's legacy legal system. Processes that used to take days now take minutes, and PCK now markets the platform to other intellectual property firms.

A payment processing startup needed to complete SOC 2 certification during a leadership transition, against a deadline a large prospective client had made a condition of doing business. Ollon assessed the certification gaps, gathered evidence for auditors, and stayed engaged with them throughout the process. The company secured its SOC 2 certification on time, closing the deal with that new client.

A public school district's system served 80,000-100,000 users facing unreliable login access, particularly when students changed schools or left the district. Ollon stabilized their identity management system, eliminating service disruptions. Students and teachers now log in reliably without interruption, and IT staff no longer spend time troubleshooting access issues or running manual recovery processes.

Velamentis wanted a platform to support people dealing with toxic workplaces, but started with only a high level idea and no product built. Ollon led UX design through multiple iterations, first prototyping a data reporting tool, then pivoting to build an educational platform instead. Ollon helped Velamentis define its target audience and delivered the product through design and prototyping.

BlueMind, a CRM platform for insurance brokers, had an offshore team missing deadlines and a CEO with no technical visibility into why. Ollon provided fractional CTO, team lead, and DevOps services, restructuring the offshore team, automating builds, and hardening security to meet insurance compliance standards. BlueMind's MVP launched and the platform has run reliably for more than two years since.

CampBrain, a camp management platform serving roughly 22,000 camps, lost its CTO just as its decade old system needed to scale for modern demands. Ollon provided fractional CTO leadership, built a scaling roadmap, promoted an internal development manager and architect, and added recurring security scanning. CampBrain sold successfully with that architecture and process still in place today.

Empower Health's seven year old appointment booking system was stuck in maintenance mode with no original developers left, as COVID forced a pivot to vaccination bookings. Ollon provided fractional CTO services, scaled the dev team as needs shifted, and introduced scrums, code review, and automated deployment. Empower Health met COVID demands and won new contracts with the Ontario Ministry of Health.

Estora, a medicinal cannabis brand preparing for a regulatory shift, needed a sales platform integrated with AmpleOrganics, its product management system, to replace manual inventory workflows. Ollon built a new frontend portal connecting product data, blog content, and order processing into one system. Estora ran on that platform with real time inventory visibility for the rest of its operation.

Clickfree, a backup storage device company, wanted to add private photo sharing as a value add for its customers but had no face recognition system to power it. Ollon augmented Clickfree's team, building the Kooboodle iOS and Android apps with a machine learning face recognition system for photo sharing. Ollon delivered a working prototype within three months for Clickfree to showcase publicly.

The State of Maryland tracked detainee mental health compliance through a manual, paper based process across auditors, nurses, and doctors. Ollon ran discovery sessions, mapped the full workflow, and designed and prototyped a new digital platform in Figma. Auditors confirmed the prototype was a meaningful improvement, though external factors paused development before it reached production.

Pantree, an eco friendly product company operating on Shopify, tracked tree donations and rewards by hand in spreadsheets, a process that couldn't keep pace as its product line grew. Ollon built a custom app connecting directly to Pantree's Shopify store, turning purchases into donation and impact metrics automatically. Pantree now has one centralized system for tracking environmental impact.

UNCCD COP 16 Immersive Experience
Impossible Creative, a marketing agency specializing in immersive 3D video, was preparing a first of its kind 360 degree installation for a conference in Saudi Arabia but lacked the expertise for its hardware. Ollon engineered a custom video conversion workflow and completed integration onsite, troubleshooting through construction delays and a power outage. The installation ran reliably for the conference.

A utility company had no centralized way to onboard contractors or track training compliance, creating bottlenecks with manual IT provisioning. Ollon built a vendor access portal that automates permissions through Microsoft Graph API. The utility now manages contractor access and training compliance through one application, onboarding vendors faster.

A wealth management firm operating across more than 400 locations saw applications fail unexpectedly while migrating hundreds of systems to AWS. Ollon built Python load testing scripts that hit each application with expected production traffic and retested fixes before migration proceeded. The firm now has confidence in its applications' stability, with Ollon continuing support through the migration.

A window and door manufacturer lost access to source code for several critical applications after its outsourced developers left with no knowledge transfer. Ollon reverse engineered more than 20 applications, ran a security review, and mapped the Azure environment into a detailed architecture report. Ollon assessed the setup across five areas and built a prioritized security roadmap sequenced to avoid disrupting active pipelines. The organization now has a clear plan to reach enterprise security standards while keeping its open source contributions intact.

CCMI, a concussion care company with a small team and tight budget, was manually setting up and deploying AWS infrastructure, creating inefficiency and risk. Ollon automated CCMI's production and staging environments with Terraform and built CI/CD pipelines, then stayed on as fractional DevOps support. CCMI has run on that automated infrastructure since 2022, with faster deployments and fewer errors.

A financial exchange needed to keep its Angular 1 applications secure after the framework reached end of life in 2022, when upgrading wasn't practical. Ollon took over maintenance under an SLA, patching vulnerabilities directly in the framework's source code as discovered. The exchange has stayed secure and compliant on Angular 1 without migrating, and Ollon continues to provide support.

A hardware company's digital asset management system stalled when the development team behind it left before launch, leaving no one familiar with the code. Ollon reviewed the codebase, built a new development plan and timeline, and trained the company's team toward launch. The company is now finishing the application with Ollon, working from a clear plan instead of a stalled project.

An insurance startup under private equity ownership had to be sold within a month after its owner hit unrelated financial trouble, and its dev team wasn't transferring with the sale. Ollon took over the unlaunched platform, stabilized it, secured all three portals, and automated its manual document workflows. The platform launched under new ownership, with Ollon continuing as its development team since.

The Learning Pit lost the right to sell Ladder Labs after a licensing deal ended and the developer passed away, leaving a Visual Basic 6 codebase no one could touch. Ollon stripped every restricted asset to clear it legally and replaced the licensing system with a modern alternative, keeping functionality intact. The Learning Pit can sell again, with universities renewing licenses every two years.

A paper manufacturing company had its internal team building a new online ordering site in Blazor and C# with no prior experience in either. Ollon mentored the team directly, guiding architecture and implementation decisions and ramping up on Blazor quickly to stay useful. The company improved its code quality and launched the site independently, better prepared to maintain it going forward.

Synamedia, a video syndication technology provider, needed SOC2 compliance to win Rogers as a client, a requirement that put the deal at risk. Ollon built and sustained Synamedia's compliance program over three years, carrying it through an independent audit relationship after Synamedia split from Cisco. Synamedia closed the Rogers deal and has maintained its SOC2 certification through the ownership change.

Virtmac's classroom chemistry app let instructors demonstrate reactions on a digital canvas, but needed performance work before supporting real classroom use or new subjects. Ollon optimized the platform's performance and backend, letting the client update content without developer help. Virtmac moved the app out of internal development and launched its MVP to its first customers.

Vybe, a mobile mindfulness platform, was struggling to get its initial product to market due to stability problems in its React Native codebase. Ollon triaged the code, fixed the specific areas causing instability, and built out the remaining features needed for launch. Vybe launched successfully and has grown its user base, shipping new features with confidence in the platform's stability.

A caregiving service went through a corporate rebrand and needed domain names, email addresses, URLs, and roughly 50 applications updated across departments without disrupting users. Ollon built a phased rollout, reviewed SSO configurations, and automated profile updates through each platform's API. The transition ran smoothly, with uninterrupted access and consistent branding across every system.

A customer support provider had no efficient way to enforce device naming standards or track usage across its Microsoft Intune environment. Ollon built two automated workflows, one scanning devices for naming compliance and another tracking user logins, built with the company's IT leads. Ollon implemented Okta, migrating hundreds of users onto single sign on across 15 off the shelf tools and 10 custom applications. The firm now runs on one centralized, secure identity system across all 25 applications.

A proptech startup automating condo board communication with AI needed to test its product and validate market interest with minimal investment. Ollon built a functional prototype connecting a conversational AI framework to condo booking systems and texting, letting the company test use cases and gather feedback cheaply. The company refined its product and secured funding from a startup accelerator.

Public Library System
A public library system needed to migrate shared systems, including booking tools, automation scripts, and calendars, from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365. Ollon rebuilt each service inside Microsoft 365, using SharePoint and Power Automate to match how staff and patrons already worked. Patrons and staff now book rooms and classes the same way as before, with Google services fully retired.

Surefire, a cybersecurity company helping organizations recover from cyber attacks through insurance, needed a partner once insurance funds ran out with security needs still unmet. Ollon assesses each referred client's systems and builds a roadmap around the vulnerabilities in their attack.
