ESG Reporting Platform

Socially & Environmentally Impactful Investing

An ESG reporting platform struggled to scale for larger financial clients while its offshore team hit time zone gaps, communication issues, and inconsistent code quality. Ollon stepped in as fractional CTO, hired a local team, and added security compliance and DevOps processes. The platform used that improvement to land larger clients, including major financial institutions and public sector organizations.

An ESG reporting platform faced challenges scaling their applications to meet the needs of larger financial services clients. Their offshore development team encountered difficulties related to time zone differences, communication barriers, and inconsistent code quality. As the company onboarded larger clients, their systems were not adequately designed to handle the increased demand, requiring immediate improvements in architecture, security, and development processes.

Ollon assumed the role of fractional CTO and implemented a comprehensive strategy to improve the company's development operations. This included hiring a local development team, enhancing security compliance to meet the requirements of larger financial clients, and introducing DevOps processes to streamline deployments. The transition from the offshore team to a local team allowed for better communication, higher-quality development, and improved scalability of their applications.

Ollon's support enabled the company to significantly improve their product offerings and attract new, larger clients, including major financial institutions and public sector organizations. The enhanced infrastructure, security measures, and streamlined development processes established a foundation for continued growth and improved customer satisfaction.

Our Expertise in Action

Data platform

Processing environmental, social, and governance data at the volume large financial services clients needed meant an ESG reporting platform's original infrastructure had to change, since it was never designed for that scale. Ollon rebuilt the platform on a hybrid AWS and Azure infrastructure, using Azure Synapse Analytics for the large scale data processing enterprise ESG reporting actually demanded. Ollon also worked through the reliability issues that surfaced as the new infrastructure came online, stabilizing the platform under real client load. That hybrid foundation gave the platform enough processing capacity to keep up with clients whose data volume had outgrown the original design.

Business Intelligence

Financial services clients needed to see their ESG performance in a format executives could actually use, not raw data sitting in a database somewhere. Ollon built reporting workflows on top of the platform's data pipeline that fed into Power BI, creating executive dashboards with real time ESG performance metrics for each client. Getting individual clients onboarded to their own reports meant configuring specific report URLs and access permissions per client in the platform's admin panel, not a single generic dashboard shared across everyone. Each client ended up with reporting built around what its own executives actually needed to track, not a one size fits all view of the data.
