Locally Sourced Meal Delivery

Feast, a Toronto meal delivery startup, wanted to get fresh, locally sourced meals to customers quickly but had no ordering or delivery platform built yet. Ollon built an end to end system covering mobile and web ordering plus automated inventory and delivery management. Feast launched in six months and was delivering an average of 300 meals per lunch hour, most within 15 minutes of ordering.

Situation

In 2016, the founders of Feast, a Toronto food services business, had a vision: fresh locally sourced meals delivered quickly.

Solution

Ollon built an end to end system that allowed their customers to order fresh meals via mobile or web – and receive fast delivery. Our custom solution also made it easy for Feast to automate inventory and delivery management for seamless operations.

Results

Feast went live in just 6 months. Within the first three months, 300 meals on average were being successfully delivered each lunch hour— most within just 15 minutes of ordering. The ease and efficiency of the new e-delivery service sparked glowing reviews.

Mobile Application Development

Feast needed a mobile ordering app built entirely from scratch, with no existing codebase or design system to build from. Ollon built the app natively in Xamarin for iOS and Android from a single codebase, developing the full customer ordering experience end to end. Within three months of launch, the app was handling an average of 300 meal orders every lunch hour, most delivered within 15 minutes of being placed. This became the primary way Feast's customers ordered meals for delivery.

When Feast approached Ollon, there was no existing platform to adapt, only a business goal: deliver fresh, locally sourced meals to customers quickly. Ollon built a full system from the ground up, spanning the customer facing ordering experience and the backend logic Feast needed to automate inventory and delivery management. That combination, mobile and web ordering paired with automated operations behind it, was specific enough to Feast's model that a general purpose e-commerce platform would not have covered it. The system supported Feast through its launch and early growth.
