Business Intelligence
Sinalite's operational analytics ran through Domo, a platform that no longer matched where the company wanted its reporting to go. Ollon architected and executed the complete migration to Power BI, rebuilding dashboards and data connections from scratch to cover warehouse operations and system performance monitoring. That rebuild included recreating executive reporting functionality that leadership had relied on in Domo, so switching platforms didn't mean losing visibility during the transition. Sinalite ended up with reporting built fresh in Power BI.
Cyber incident recovery and hardening
A ransomware attack had already hit Sinalite by the time Ollon got involved, and the printing house needed real security measures in place, not just a promise that it would not happen again. Ollon implemented a Palo Alto firewall across Sinalite's AWS environment as the core of that hardening effort, combining it with AWS native security services to close the gaps the attack had exposed. That firewall implementation became a months long infrastructure project in its own right, since integrating it properly into an existing AWS setup meant reworking load balancing, routing, and security groups. Sinalite came out with security measures built to withstand another attempt.
Cybersecurity assessment and incident response
Sinalite's systems had already suffered serious breaches, including a ransomware attack, when Ollon was brought in to figure out exactly how exposed the environment actually was. Ollon conducted a comprehensive system assessment and code review across the hybrid AWS and onsite setup, identifying the critical vulnerabilities that had let those breaches happen in the first place. That assessment became the basis for what got fixed first, prioritizing the most serious exposures. Sinalite moved from a system with unknown risk to one where the actual risk had been identified and was being worked through in order.
Fractional DevOps support
Once the initial security work was in place, Sinalite still needed ongoing operational attention across a hybrid Magento and AWS environment running two active warehouses. Ollon provides that fractional DevOps support directly, monitoring production alarms, building an automated Lambda function to handle server reboots, and onboarding new client stores into the Magento storefront as the business added them. Database backup jobs and infrastructure changes get handled as part of that same ongoing relationship. That continuous support is what keeps day to day operations running without Sinalite needing its own dedicated DevOps team for routine work.
Fractional CTO and fractional technical leadership
Sinalite's technical operations had been running without effective leadership, part of how the environment ended up vulnerable enough to suffer a ransomware attack in the first place. Ollon provided fractional CTO level technical leadership to establish the processes the organization had been missing, working alongside the internal team to set direction on security priorities and infrastructure decisions. That leadership meant decisions about what to fix first and how to structure ongoing operations came from someone accountable for the outcome. Sinalite's in house team could focus on building instead of firefighting once that leadership and structure were in place.
Hiring and onboarding support
Stabilizing Sinalite's operations long term meant the organization needed its own development manager in place, not permanent reliance on outside technical leadership for a role that should sit inside the company. Ollon supported the hiring process for that development manager role directly, helping bring in someone who could take ownership of day to day technical decisions. That hire gave Sinalite internal leadership its in house team could work with directly, reducing how much the organization needed to route through an outside partner for routine decisions. Building that internal role was part of the same stabilization effort as the security work.
Code review and design review
Sinalite's legacy in house application carried years of technical debt that no one had fully mapped, and Ollon needed to understand what was actually in the codebase before recommending what to fix. Ollon conducted a comprehensive code review as part of the initial system assessment, examining the legacy in house application running across Sinalite's hybrid AWS and onsite environment. That review is what surfaced the specific vulnerabilities driving the prioritized security work that followed. The code review turned an unknown, undocumented legacy system into one with a specific, understood list of issues to work through.
Backup and disaster recovery
The ransomware attack made backup reliability a real priority for Sinalite. Ollon set up and continues to manage Sinalite's database backup jobs as part of the same Terraform driven AWS infrastructure work covering the rest of the environment, checking configuration and verifying that backups actually restore rather than just assuming they would. That focus on backup reliability specifically is what gives Sinalite a real recovery path if something goes wrong again. Disaster recovery here is treated as an ongoing operational responsibility that gets reviewed as the AWS environment continues to change.
Software advisory and IT strategy
Sinalite needed more than a list of vulnerabilities to know what to fix first. The organization needed a strategy for sequencing security work, infrastructure automation, and process improvement without disrupting two active warehouses. Ollon provided that strategic direction, assessing the system holistically and setting priorities for the security measures, Terraform automation, and process establishment that followed. That advisory work meant Sinalite's response to its security incidents was a sequenced plan. The strategy behind the work is part of why the stabilization effort actually held together.
Data and Analytics
Sinalite's warehouse operations and system performance data needed to feed into reporting that reflected what was actually happening across two active printing facilities, not just what Domo happened to already track. Ollon rebuilt the underlying data connections feeding operational reporting during the Power BI migration, establishing new data visualization workflows specifically for warehouse operations and system performance monitoring. That rebuilt data foundation meant Sinalite's leadership team could see operational and infrastructure performance data together, not have to reconcile separate views of the same business. The analytics that came out of that work reflected the operational reality Sinalite actually needed visibility into.
AWS
Getting a Palo Alto firewall properly integrated into Sinalite's existing AWS environment turned into a genuine infrastructure challenge, not a simple appliance install. Ollon spent months resolving issues along the way, including an asymmetric routing problem from a default route configuration, load balancer health checks needing troubleshooting across environments, and resyncing VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, and EC2 instances into Terraform state. That resync meant the resulting infrastructure was fully represented in code, not partially automated with undocumented manual changes layered on top. The AWS environment that came out of that migration was both more secure and more accurately reflected by its own code than before.
Magento
Sinalite's Magento storefront went down over a weekend, and figuring out why meant investigating a production issue without the benefit of it happening during business hours. Ollon investigated that downtime directly, identified the underlying issue, and added memory metrics specifically so a recurrence could be caught before it caused another outage. Ollon also set up a dedicated jumphost to investigate ongoing Magento issues and provided logs directly to the client's own team when they needed visibility into what was happening. That direct platform level investigation is what turned a mystery outage into a diagnosed, monitored issue instead of a recurring mystery.
